LADIES OPEN SCALLOP SPIEL

The Ladies Open Scallop Spiel, organized by the Day Ladies, has continued to be a fun and competitive event since its inception in 2010. Women’s teams throughout the province join us in Lunenburg for a one day bonspiel held on the second Saturday in November. The time between their three six-end games is filled with food, activities, and the chance to socialize and get reacquainted with returning team members. The day ends with appetizers, the results of the silent auction, and the presentation of prizes.

The dedication of the Day Ladies involved in organizing and running this event, along with the support of our sponsors and members, has contributed to the hugh success of the Ladies Open Scallop Spiel. It has become a great fundraiser for our club.

The 10th Annual Scallop Spiel

Our 10th Anniversary Scallop Spiel was a huge success on Saturday November 9th. There was a lot of great camaraderie , curling and food throughout the day.  We'd like to thanks all our sponsors, donors, The Day Ladies, The LCC Masters, Wayne Cleveland and so many more who helped to raise over $3400.00 and make this another successful bonspiel for the club.

The winning team with 54 points was the 4 “J”s curling out of the Lunenburg Curling Club with skip Jan Merrill, third Jean McKiel, second Judy Wagner and lead Jill Honda. Karen Pinsent, a member of the Amos Pewter Team was on hand to present the trophy and then a donated pewter prize to all members of the 16 teams.

Rounding out the top 8 teams were Mayflower Mermaids (47 points), Harbour Lights Dartmouth C.C. (46 points), Bay Busters Dartmouth C.C. (38 points), Navigators Halifax C.C. (37 points), She-Shells Halifax C.C. (36 points), Saucy Coquilles Dartmouth C.C. (33 points) and Sea Shanties Mayflower C.C. (33 points).
