CURL FOR A CAUSE
In March 2001, the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore organized their first fundraising bonspiel, Curl for a Cause. The success of that first bonspiel led to it becoming an annual event now held during the last weekend in February at the Lunenburg Curling Club. Our community has definitely benefitted from the money raised to purchase equipment for Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital. The Health Services Foundation of the South Shore, along with its many volunteers, deserve recognition for raising $400,000 to date for our local hospital while also insuring a fun-filled weekend for the individuals curling in this event.
Last year's bonspiel raised over $43,000 towards the purchase of a blood collection chair, a bariatric wheelchair, a crash cart for ER, two stretchers, a NuStep, and an industrial grade stove for Fishermen's Memorial Hospital.
