Mixed Doubles Championship
The 3rd annual Mixed Doubles Championship was held at the LCC on Sunday, February 18, 2018. It’s inclusion as a new Olympic sport in the 2018 Winter Games has undoubtedly led to it’s growing popularity in clubs and competitions across Canada.
Mixed Doubles is a fast-paced, fun, and challenging game that introduces a new set of skills and strategies. The rules employ the same delivery, scoring and brushing that we are used to, but vary in other key aspects of the game.
A team composed of two players, one female and one male, uses 6 rocks during each end. Each team positions their first rock either as a guard at the top of the house or behind the button at the edge of the 4-foot. One player delivers the first and last rocks each end, with the other player delivering rocks 2, 3, and 4.
Teams participating in our Mixed Doubles Championship must have at least one LCC member. Our one-day championship will follow the World Curling Federation (WCF) rules, except for Rule (10) Power Play, which will be excluded. If you plan to sign-up for this event, be sure to check out the rules. Links to the WCF Rules and a demonstration video are provided on this page.
